Local economist, author, and American Independent Business Alliance (AMIBA) board member Michael Shuman recently released his Report Card on the US Local Economy Movement in The Main Street Journal.

The piece included a provocative SWOT analysis of the local economy movement today. Based on that analysis, Michael will suggest a dozen indicators to measure your economy’s well-being and whether, over time, your own efforts are succeeding.

Among the indicators discussed will be the percentage of jobs at locally owned businesses, the survival rate of new businesses, the diversification of your economy, the number of local crowdfunding offerings, and the percentage of your budget coming from earned revenue.
