Press Release
In an effort to facilitate the progress of BioFuel production in Southern Indiana, The Harrison County Independent Business Alliance (HCIBA) is setting up a pilot demonstration project to begin production of ethanol.
The purpose of this project is to educate community business leaders, investors, and farmers. The goal is to make locally-owned full-scale production of ethanol and bio-diesel a reality in Southern Indiana. One acre of corn can yield 250 gallons of ethanol. After discussions with Purdue personnel and local ethanol expert, Ed Wilkinson, a small scale ethanol plant has been purchased by the HCIBA with donations.
The Fun Farm in Corydon, IN has been selected as the desired location for logistics and maximum exposure. Steve Boehman, owner of The Fun Farm Recreation Park, has been a long-time advocate of alternative energy and local self-reliance. Mark Bowling, machinist / pipe-fitter / farmer, will be the construction / operations manager.
Jim Klinstiver, president of the HCIBA, Mark Bush, Andrew Best, John Beams, Debra Partin, and Steve Tucker will also lend hands-on assistance. School field trips will be offered as well as tours for any and all interested parties. Ethanol production will begin in mid-August and bio-diesel production is expected to begin in mid-November.
These bold steps are expected to offer tremendous economic development benefits for all of Southern Indiana. Boehman can be contacted at 800-952-3580. www.amiba.net www.thefunfarm.com
